Coronation Street
Actress Michelle Keegan (AKA Tina McIntyre) & Mark Wright (Heart radio presenter & formerly TOWIE), are both talented dancers. Their first dance was to I Have Nothing (If I Don’t Have You) by Whitney Houston. They chose the song because of the meaningful lyric ‘Share my life, take me for what I am’.
They also surprised their guests with the legendary dance from the Dirty Dancing movie ‘Time Of My Life’, complete with the lift! Mark had previously taken part in Strictly Come Dancing, where he met Strictly professionals Karen Hauer & Kevin Clifton, who choreographed their dance for them.

Royal & High Society Wedding First Dance Songs

Their Royal Highnesses Catherine & William – Your Song by Elton John – performed live by Ellie Goulding
On being asked to perform at the Royal Wedding Ellie said “It was an amazing honour to be asked by Kate and William to perform at their party. The atmosphere was incredible and it is a night I will never forget. Performing the first dance of the night, Your Song, was nerve-wracking. But William and Kate were very appreciative. They are an awesome couple and told me how much they enjoyed it. My band and I stayed at the reception all night, and it’s something I’ll treasure forever.”

Strictly Wedding Dance Songs

Aljaz Skorjanec & Janette Manrara – They had three weddings in three different countries! In the UK, as well as Slovenia & Miami, USA.
They chose a low-key first dance, sung live by Janette’s Dad! Aljaz told Hello! Magazine “They [wedding guests] were expecting Dirty Dancing lifts and you know. But that’s work and this is our wedding, not a gig,” Janette added: “I couldn’t move in my dress, my dress was like, so tight.”
Enjoy their Slovenian wedding film!

Amy Dowden & Ben Jones – Obviously we know Amy from Strictly, but did you know her husband Ben is also a professional dancer? Amy changed into an elegant satin gown for her first dance. We are big fans of their wedding venue Oldwalls Gower and the feeling is likewise, as the Oldwalls Collection recommend our wedding dance lessons to their wedding couples.

Amy Williams & Craig Ham – The Olympic champion married her solider in Bathampton, after meeting on Tinder and becoming engaged after just 12 weeks! Appropriately, they danced to When The Right One Comes Along a song from the TV series Nashville, of which Amy is a fan. Guess who taught these Celebrity couples? We did!

Obviously, our favourite celebrity first dances are those we choreographed! Read on to find out what our celebrity couples thought of their dancing lessons for their wedding:

Paul Martin (presenter of BBC’s Flog It) & Charlotte danced to ‘You Never Can Tell’ from the Pulp Fiction movie. They said:

“We were really happy with the experience. I can’t think of anything that would have made it better. We were John Travolta and Uma Thurman for 3 minutes – and had so much fun. All the guests loved it and I think we went up in the cool stakes!”

As many will know, it’s the finale dance at the end of the movie, performed by Johnny (Patrick Swayze) and Baby (Jennifer Grey), sung by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes.

Julia Haydon & Aditya Chanrai danced to ‘Wave Of You’ by Surfaces for their wedding at the National History Museum in London. Their first dance had a magical detail, as they danced under the magnificent 82-foot blue whale skeleton. Julia said “Thank you so much! We are happy to share our pictures with you

Finally, our last celebrity isn’t a couple – it’s a teacher! Before becoming a household name, Gemma Whelan used to teach wedding dance couples for us. She would cycle across London to her lessons, making her the only teacher we’ve ever had to travel around London on a bicycle. Gemma always got fantastic reviews – couples loved her and her choreography. Gemma often mentioned auditions and one bittersweet day she told us she couldn’t teach wedding couples anymore, as she’s been offered an acting role. That role was Yara Greyjoy in Game Of Thrones! Obviously since then Gemma’s acting career as gone from strength to strength, with so many fantastic roles including The Tower, Killing Eve, The Crown and (my personal favourite) Gentleman Jack. We aren’t surprised at all, as not only is she a fantastic actress, but she has an admirably strong work ethic and she’s really lovely to work with.
