Jobs For Dance Teachers - Our Requirements

All our wedding dance teachers must have these qualities:

  • To have achieved at least a Level 3 qualification
  • To be a qualified dance teacher accredited via a recognised CDMT (Council For Dance, Drama & Musical Theatre) organisation, for example ISTD, RAD, NATD or IDTA or equivalent. Or a Further Educational qualification awarded from a UCAS establishment. Or equivalent, if qualifications have been achieved in other countries.
  • Public Liability Insurance for Dance Tuition.
  • Reliable with professional conduct.
  • Experience of working with adult beginners.
  • A passion for creating simple yet effective choreography.
  • A friendly approach to teaching, with emphasis on building confidence.

Who are our dance teachers? Our work is so flexible, it can suit literally all dance careers and personal circumstances. Some of our dance teachers run their own dance studios, some teach at other people’s dance studios or in schools, colleges and Higher Education establishments. Some are working parents. Some teachers work part-time, others work full time. Some work 100% in dance, others have varied income streams and work in other industries alongside teaching dance. Some teachers work on cruise ships, West End productions or tours and only teach wedding dance when they are on a break from their contracts.

  • You do not need to be a qualified ballroom dance teacher to teach wedding dance.
  • As we are members of One Dance UK all our teachers get complimentary access to their training courses and Continuing Professional Development sessions, many of which are free of charge.
  • Although weddings happen all year around, the majority are seasonal and most weddings happen March-October.
  • Wedding couples are the BEST students. They are super enthusiastic, practise and appreciate your work, as the skills you teach them are for the most important day of their lives. As a result, teaching wedding dance gives great job satisfaction.
